Eight Indian states account for more poor people than in the 26 poorest African countries combined, a new measure of global poverty has found. The Indian states, including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, have 421 million “poor” people, the study found.

NEW DELHI: Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna said he would raise the issue of terrorism during his visit to Pakistan scheduled for next week. Speaking on his return to India at the end of his visit to three countries of Mauritius, Mozambique and Seychelles, Krishna said he would ask the state assessment tests conducted by Pakistan against the 26 / 11 terrorist bombers.

US citizen of Pakistani origin David Headley has admitted 12 counts of conspiracy. He pleaded guilty to scouting targets for the 2008 attacks on the Indian city of Mumbai.
